1) The Union Health Ministry has announced 27% reservation for the OBCs (Other Backward Classes) and 10% quota for the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) in the All India Quota (AIQ) scheme for undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) medical / dental courses (MBBS / MD / MS / Diploma / BDS / MDS) from 2021-22 onwards.

2) On the occasion of International Tiger Day on Thursday, Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav announced that 14 tiger reserves in India have received accreditation of the Global Conservation Assured Tiger Standards (CA|TS).
➨ CA|TS is a globally accepted conservation tool that sets best practice and standards to manage tigers and encourages assessments to benchmark progress.

3) The UP government is providing interest-free loans to women’s self-help groups (SHGs) in rural areas for the purchase of four- and three-wheelers to generate employment under the Aajeevika Grameen Express Yojana (AGEY). 
➨The target is to provide 400 vehicles – goods/passenger carriers, mini four-wheelers and e-rickshaws. SHGs across the state have already purchased 265 vehicles under the scheme.

4) Finance Ministry in association with MyGov India is announcing a contest to crowdsource the name, tagline and logo of the new Development Financial Institution. Participants can win cash prizes of up to five lakh rupees in each category. The last date for entries is 15th of October.

5) Delhi government has decided to send the names of doctors and healthcare workers for this year's Padma awards. 
➨the Delhi government has formed a screening committee that will screen the names in the next 15 days and recommend the names to the Delhi government.

6) India and Russia will hold the 12th edition of the joint military exercise at Volgograd city in Russia next month.
➨The exercise will include the conduct of counter-terror operations under the United Nations (UN) mandate by a joint force against international terror groups. The 13-day activity will include at least 250 personnel from both India and Russia. Volgograd is situated on Russia's western bank of the Volga river.

7) The Bihar assembly passed a Bill to establish the first sports university of the state, where one-third of the seats will be reserved for women. All sports-related institutes, training centres and colleges of physical education in Bihar will be affiliated to this new university, which will be the country's sixth such varsity.

8) India cracked into the top ten list of agricultural produce exporters in 2019 with a significant share within the export of rice, soya beans, cotton and meat, according to a World Trade Organisation (WTO) report on trends in world agricultural trade in recent 25 years.

9) China's industry ministry has announced a six-month campaign to clean up what it says are serious problems with internet apps violating consumer rights, cybersecurity and "disturbing market order".

10) Tata Communications announced the launch of IZO financial cloud platform in India, that aims to enhance performance and security of organisations in the banking and financial services space.

11) The UK high court issued a bankruptcy order against the Indian businessman Vijay Mallya. The order will pave the way for a consortium of India banks led by the State Bank of India (SBI) to pursue a worldwide freezing order on Mallya’s assets in a bid to seek the repayment of debts owed by the liquor baron’s now-defunct company Kingfisher Airlines.

12) Minister Dharmendra Pradhan proposed to set up a National Research Foundation. It will be set up under National Education Policy 2020.

14) Manipur state government has decided to appoint Olympic silver medallist Saikhom Mirabai Chanu as additional superintendent of police (sports) in the police department. 
➨ The 26-year-old Khel Ratna awardee won the medal in the 49kg weightlifting category at the Tokyo Olympics. She is currently working in the Indian Railways.

19) Sri Lanka has proposed holding the BIMSTEC summit in early December. This will be the 5th such summit of the grouping. Sri Lanka is the chair of the grouping and had earlier proposed holding the summit in August.
➨The last summit took place in Kathmandu in 2018, with PM Modi and other regional leaders attending the meet. BIMSTEC or Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation has 7 members--India, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, and Sri Lanka.

20) ITBP Director General S S Deswal has been given the additional charge of counter-terrorism force National Security Guard (NSG) as its incumbent chief A K Singh is going to retire on September 30.
➨Anup Kumar Singh, a 1985-batch Indian Police Service officer of the Gujarat cadre, was appointed the NSG Director General in October last year.

21) Indian Naval Ship (INS) Saryu, an indigenously built Offshore Patrol Vessel is undertaking coordinated patrol (CORPAT) with Indonesian Naval Ship KRI Bung Tomo from 30 to 31 July 2021. The 36th edition of CORPAT between India and Indonesia will also witness participation of Maritime Patrol Aircraft from both nations.
